Founder & Curator
Rosa Matinfar is the founder and curator of Matin Curatorial House.
Trained in Art Studies at the University of Tehran's Faculty of Fine Arts, with a research focus on the museum as a site of narrative construction, she approaches curating as both scholarly inquiry and material practice. Her work has unfolded across institutional and independent contexts — from museum collaborations and jury roles in national festivals to sustained engagement with private collections and the quieter mechanisms of the art market.
At the center of her practice lies a precise conviction: that the most enduring power of an artwork resides not in its certificate or market position, but in the narratives it can still generate. Working between Tehran and international circuits, she develops frameworks that treat history as a living material — something that can be interrupted, rethreaded, and placed in dialogue with contemporary form. This has led her toward what she terms para-fictional curation: a method that holds documented pasts and imaginative possibility in the same frame, without forcing resolution.
Whether shaping an exhibition inside a museum or advising a collector on the architecture of a collection, the same principle applies. Each work is chosen for the questions it opens and the coherence it brings to a larger narrative. Scholarship, material sensitivity, and a long contemplative gaze remain the constants.
